The Naked Truth

Ready to Let it All Hang Out!

September 14, 2012

So, is anyone else annoyed with how much time the media spends reporting who flashed their hoo-haw, had a wardrobe malfunction or decided to play strip poker with their friends? I sure am!

Here is the deal people: though celebrities grace the cover of every magazine, make millions of dollars each year by having a lot more fun than any of us normal people do at work and tend to be overly gorgeous, they are nudist just like the rest of us! So what if Britney forgot to put her undies on before going out & just so happened to step out of her car in a way we saw her lady parts. So what if Justin accidentally tugged too hard on Janet’s bra top & a boob popped out at the Super Bowl.

With this recent news of Prince Harry playing strip billards (who plays this game anyway?) and Princess Kate Middleton going topless, it has just stirred an irritation in me. Has nobody ever gone skinny dipping before Gaga? Or had a friend de-pants them in public? I am just getting tired of these things being called “entertainment”, when truly they are just a the same old stories we talk to our friends about from a crazy weekend out.

Now that I have ranted about this topic, I now am regretting this banter since it just gave all these famous people more “face” time and attention, which is what I was trying to prevent. OH-Well! Better luck next time eh?!

Donkey Kong Again?

Anyone Going to Address the Elephant in the Room?

September 7, 2012

Election Day is soon ahead and everyone is buzzing about who is going to win the election. On one hand you have Democratic nominee, current President of the U.S., Barak Obama. On the other hand, you have Republican candidate, Mitt Romney. Both are fighting hard on their campaigns and recently held their national conventions this week. But, was all the buzz really about what their speeches were about or was a lot of the hype around their celebrity supporters or lack thereof?

At the Republican National Convention, the most talked about supporter was Mr. Dirty Harry himself, Clint Eastwood. Eastwood gave a drawn out speech which is rumored to have gone eight minutes over than planned (reports say the red light was flashing ferociously at him). His speech included him conversing with the invisible man (Obama) in turn making him appear as though one flew over the cuckoo’s nest. Thanks Jack!

At the Democratic National Convention, Eva Longoria and Scarlett Johansson showed their support. Ashley Judd and Tommy Lee Jones also are two stars showing their support for the Obama party in their states. We all remember four years ago when Oprah was the big celebrity who spoke openly about her support for our President. She was so good that she could have run and won!

It seems very strange to me that the last election as well as this one has been so publicized in a more celeb fashion. Yes, Obama does have a celeb squad. Let’s call it what it is. But, is it because of his high profile supporters that sway the younger Americans to vote in their favor? It is a decent argument I must admit. I think it would be a very strategic move. Heck, if I were running for President I would want every celebrity available on my side!

As of last night both candidates were tied 46% to 46% on voter’s poll. I honestly was shocked. I thought for sure that Obama would be well over 50%. Obviously only time will tell, but with all the heat Romney is taking right now with taxes and questions about his honesty (he is a politician…come on!) you never know what can happen.

Just remember, base your vote off of your own beliefs and opinions, not your parents, co-workers, spouses, or George Clooney’s! All in all, just vote!

Hit Me With Your Best Shot

Hit Me With Your Best Shot

How is it that Domestic Violence has become so publicized lately? Well folks, we can thank rapper Chris Brown for this. I am sure you have heard (and if you haven’t I would assume you have been on a deserted island) that Chris Brown beat up his then girlfriend, Rihanna back in 2009. Now, it was all over Entertainment Tonight and TMZ for months. Leaked photos of the pop singer’s bruised faced graced the cover of magazines and was the spotlight of so many gossip cover stories. It has been an on-going topic in the pop culture world for the past three years, with the court dates, restraining order and the possibility of these two getting back together. Then, it all died down…until now.

Rihanna just did an interview with Oprah for Miss O’s network special “Oprah’s New Beginnings”. The singer sat down with Oprah to discuss her life, music and the infamous incident that took place in 2009. The Barbadian native spoke openly about the traumatic event as well as showed her vulnerability by admitting her love for her once boyfriend and how she will always love him. Many people just don’t understand how a person could still feel this way about a person who could treat them so horribly. Others may have some form of understanding if they have some experience with the matter.

I grew up in a house built of Domestic Violence. My mother and father were in a tumultuous marriage and it became physical. It usually started out the same way: mom would nag or start a fight with dad, dad stated he didn’t want to argue and wanted to be left alone, mom wouldn’t allow that and then Bam! The next thing you knew a full fight broke out and my dad then became someone unfamiliar to me. He became a monster. First it was a slap, then a fist. Eventually things became worse and objects were used. My mother was stabbed in the back with a screwdriver when I was three years old. A leg was broken off the coffee table and used to beat my mom (the cops had to tear them apart from one another).

Yes, my dad went to jail on multiple occasions, but for some strange reason my mom would drop the charges and things would be okay..until the next big fight. It was a never ending cycle. I don’t remember many of these instances, just one in particular. We lived in a god awful apartment and my parents began their usual routine. I remember sitting on the floor in the living room area watching cartoons with my little brother. My mom was standing with her back against the wall and my dad was facing her. I remember watching them, but wasn’t scared. I knew this wasn’t my dad. My dad swung back and before the blow could make contact with my mother, she moved and my dad’s hand made contact with a porcelain mask hanging on the wall. My dad’s hand disappeared and all I could see was red. Red everywhere, dripping ever so quickly down the wall. As quickly as the red came so did the screams and within seconds my mother scooped my brother and I up and headed for the door. Where was I going? I didn’t want to leave. I didn’t want to leave my dad, he was hurt. Why was she doing this?

I could hear my dad’s screams outside. I remember crying and yelling at my mom to let me go so I could go back to daddy. We drove off. It felt like we were in another state, but suddenly my mom stopped. We turned around and I could tell we were heading back. I had never been so happy. When we entered the apartment all I could remember was the entire kitchen floor was covered in deep, dark red. My cat was licking the red. Her paws were pink. My dad was grabbing his arm, but no sound was coming. Sirens. I heard loud, close sirens.  I still can hear those sirens.

Even though this incident occurred when I was under the age of six, I remember this so vividly. My dad had cut open a main artery and had to have a blood transfusion. My parents divorced a year or so after this. My father has no signs of this monster that came out around my mother. And as I remember back upon this memory, I realize that this was the first time I hated my mother. I know from this particular relationship, I set boundaries up for myself as a woman, as a person that I would never allow myself or my future children to experience this. Domestic Violence isn’t funny and it is very serious. Rihanna was lucky she was able to get the help she needed and famous or not, will have to live with that incident the rest of her life. As glamorous as celebrities are, they aren’t excluded from real life situations.

Cry Me a River….

BREAKING NEWS:

Jennifer Aniston & Justin Theroux are ENGAGED!!

After a highly publicized marriage (and then divorce) with a Mr. Pitt and multiple failed relationships to follow (Vince Vaughn and dare I mention John Mayer?), Miss Rachel Green is officially being taken off the market (again). There has been speculation of pregnancy, adoption and even a break up with this couple, but as of late, it has been confirmed Aniston & Theroux will be tying the knot.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Miss Aniston (I religiously watch Friends every night), but how come “we the people” are so obsessed with celebrity relationships? Not just that, but we get really involved in all the juicy details to the point we feel we are a part of them. Is it that we wish we could have these over-the-top lives? Is it because the media glamorizes divorces & these same relationship experiences (good and bad) that we normal people have? I believe so.

I remember being in about the fifth or sixth grade when I was devastated to learn Britney Spears & Justin Timberlake were indeed an item. My world came crashing down. JT, the man of my dreams, the guy whose face was all over my bedroom wall, was no longer available for this young hopeful. But, with my teenage devastation then became infatuation. I followed every news story and read every magazine that covered this picture perfect couple. I cannot tell you how happy this teen became when Brit Brit cheated on JT & he then wrote my absolute favorite song of 2002.

The crazy thing of it is, you would think ten years later that I would have matured & moved on, but you know, I still find myself entertained by these stories (so you can imagine my thoughts when his engagement to Jessica Biel was confirmed!).  Celebrity news is so easy to relate to, because when you take away all the glitz and the glam, they are real people who live real lives and have real problems too.

All I’m saying is, you don’t need that 20 karat rock Kim K was lugging around for 72 days. Go get yourself a nice Ring Pop & show that bad boy off. In the end, you will be a lot happy because it will be cheaper, oh-so yummy & not end in divorce.
(By the way, if you dont remember that 2002 song...click on the link below)
